Student Fee protection and idemnity for student fees
Your student fees are protected by student fee trust account which ensures a student receives a refund on student fees (held in trust) if an education provider is unable to complete a course. This could be because of closure, insolvency, loss of NZQA accreditation or course withdrawal.
The New Zealand Government requires all private training establishments registered with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), to have some form of protection for fees paid to them in advance.
NZ Equine Dentistry School has chosen to use The Public Trust as their student fee protector. The Public Trust is a government owned Trustee Company that has been in existance for over 130 years.
More information is available on their website www.publictrust.co.nz
Withdrawl and Refunds
The refund policy states that if a student seeks a refund, the refund amount depends on the length of the course of study (period of enrolment) and on the time period before withdrawal as per Section 236 of the Education Act, 1989.
These criteria are summarised in the following table:
| Period of Enrolment | Withdrawal Period | Amount of Refund |
| 1-34 Days |
Within the first TWO days of the course After more than TWO days |
50% of total fees paid No Refund |
| 35 days - 3 months |
Within the first FIVE days of the course After more than FIVE days |
75% of total fees paid No Refund |
| More than 3 months |
Within the first TEN days of the course

If you wish to withdraw after the period has elapsed, you may apply for a refund. This will be at the sicretion of management, depending on the circumstances of each request. If management agrees to a refund, it will be made according to a set schedule.

You can withdraw from the course at any time in writing. It is your responsibility to make a written application for withdrawal from a programme. All students withdrawn from the programme will be reported to the relevant external agencies. A withdrawal form is located at the back of the Student Handbook.
