Accommodation

Accomodation for International Students

New Zealand Equine Dentistry School does not offer student accommodation services.

However we can put you in touch with accommodation to help you get into the following type of accommodation.

A flatting / sharing type of accommodation with 3 - 4 other students. All students have their own bedrooms. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared. There is wireless broadband internet available.

The cost of accommodation varies but you should expect to pay for the duration of your stay, while studying, around NZ$5000. This includes one bedroom per student, linen and furniture, power, wireless broadband internet connection, general maintenance on the house and cleaning on vacation of the house. Extra is charged for damages and extra cleaning if required. Accommodation fees are usually not negotiable for short term stays or if a student is not taking full advantage of staying in the accommodation for the entire length of the course.

New Zealand Equine Dentistry School assesses accommodation as suitable, and that it will provide students with a safe physical, emotional and comfortable environment in which to stay while studying at NZEDS. Provision for regular communication with students and checks to the property are made to ensure that international students pastoral care needs are being met appropriately.

Students are encouraged to have a roster system to keep the house clean and tidy. Sharing cooking is optional and is usually worked out between students once they arrive. There are maintenance forms located in the house for students to use. If there are any breakages, damage or faulty equipment in the house these should be reported to the Office and Student Manager immediately.

Alternatively, students do not have to use the accommodation services offered by New Zealand Equine Dentistry School and can make their own independent arrangements.

The Office and Student Manager is able to assist students to access NZ accommodation services such as Ministry of Housing, Tenancy Tribunal, local Citizens Advice Bureau and community law centre.  Dianna Behrns is the designated person responsible for all inquiries about accommodation from international students.  Dianna is available 24/7 and can be contacted at the NZEDS office on 09-2369398 or mobile 027-2559085.

If you move house or change any of your contact details while studying at New Zealand Equine Dentistry School you must notify the Office and Student Manager immediately and provide the details of the change so that your student record can be amended. Failure to do so could result in your enrolment being withdrawn. Please complete the form at the end of the handbook and hand in to the office if your accommodation circumstances change.

Students will need to ensure that they have enough money for day-to-day and weekly expenses. Please note: New Zealand Immigration Services have requirements for the amount of money required to support yourself when issuing a student visa.

NZ$1,000 for each month of your stay OR NZ$400 for each month if your accommodation is already paid (you'll need evidence of pre-paid accommodation) OR a letter from your education provider saying that your accommodation and other living costs are included in the course costs you've already paid. For more information visit their website http://www.immigration.govt.nz or contact the NZEDS office.
